27 April 1932, Noel's father George writes:
"It is so difficult to realise that you have been away nearly a year. I wish it were possible for me to send you help to make things a little easier for you, but frankly just at the present moment it cannot be done, and I can only express the hope that you will be able to maintain yourself in the expectation that later on I may be able to do a little for you."
